File prep
What a clean file looks like
Using Fusion, Onshape, SolidWorks or Illustrator? Export the face or artboard as a DXF or SVG. Five rules cover nearly every rejected file.
- FormatDXF (ASCII, any version) or SVG. Keep it 1:1. If the DXF doesn't say whether it's in millimeters or inches, pick one when you upload.
- ColorsRed (#FF0000, or color 1 in AutoCAD) cuts through. Blue (#0000FF, or color 5) scores the surface. A layer named “score” or “engrave” also works.
- OutlinesClose every outline that should drop out as a part. Open paths still cut, but only as single lines.
- Small featuresKeep holes and slots at least one material thickness wide. Smaller than that, the edges char or melt shut.
- KerfLeave it to us. We offset the toolpath so outer profiles and holes land on nominal size, ±0.1 mm on acrylic and Delrin.
